The 2012 Election: Predictions and Views from MU Political Scientists


Political mavens of many types have been sharing their insights and predictions about the 2012 election for nearly a year, usually emphasizing how ongoing events influence candidate strategy, voter response, and the policies we are likely to see debated after the election. Academic research emphasizes long-term factors, and gives less weight to the “sound and fury” of the moment.

Three prominent MU political scientists with decades of experience and international reputations as experts in field subject will present perspectives that emphasize how the 2012 election fits general patterns and what that fit (or lack of it) indicates about the outcome and consequences of the election.

Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon – Volunteer with the Gateway Tigers!

Hey Tiger fans, put your spirit to use at the second annual Rock ‘n’ Roll St. Louis Marathon and Half on October 21! The Gateway Tigers will be hosting water station #12 at Kingshighway Blvd. and Laclede Ave. on the full marathon course. We’ll be providing hydration and a lot of cheers as the runners pass. The rally will begin at 2:30 pm in the midway area outside the Doubletree Hotel Lobby. Coach Haith and members of the Mizzou basketball team will walk through the event close to 2:50 pm before heading to the game. Mini Mizzou, Truman, and the Missouri Spirit Squads will be on hand, as well, for a spirit rally. Complimentary snacks and a cash bar will be available.

Mizzou Day at Steinberg Ice Skating Rink


Missouri Tigers of all ages are invited to join Truman the Tiger at Steinberg Ice Skating Rink on Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013 from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. for Mizzou Day On Ice.

Truman will be there from noon until 2 p.m. Family friendly activities and Mizzou giveaways will go on throughout the day while the rink is decked out in black and gold.

All Mizzou Alumni Association members who show their membership card get a free hot chocolate. Food, beer and wine will be available for purchase.

All Ages Skate Admission: $6
